Prep work is intended to get you warmed up for the material covered in the module's lessons. It gives you a chance to begin thinking about the material and sets the stage for the final deliverable you will be able to produce at the end of the module. 

Directions

The first step of any job search is identifying a target position. Think back to the “tech target” you identified when writing an initial summary for your resume. What was the position or role you were targeting in tech?

1. Open a new tab and visit https://www.linkedin.com/jobs

2. Enter your “tech target” position title in the search bar

3. Review this guide and follow the steps to search relevant positions

4. Once you’ve found a position that sounds interesting and aligns with your current goals, click the arrow in the upper right corner of the job posting and select, “Copy Link”

5. Click the “Submit Assignment” button above and paste the link to the job posting you selected and continue to the next steps below.

Before clicking "Next," create a job alert in LinkedIn using the search you just completed. If you need guidance on how to do this, review these steps. Once you’ve created your first job alert, you can follow the same process to create a variety of alerts that meet your needs. This will be a great tool in maximizing your tech job search!
